SEMINAR OVERVIEW

It’s no secret that NCUA and state regulators are committed to enforcing the Bank Secrecy Act. Don’t learn the hard way that compliance deficiencies can result in harsh penalties and harm your credit union's reputation. Get the information you need to ensure your credit union is in compliance before your examiner walks in the door.

  • Take a close look at the requirements of the Bank Secrecy Act and Customer Identification Program, as well as NCUA and Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council requirements
  • Get an overview of the Office of Foreign Assets Control and the PATRIOT Act
  • Review sample policies and recent examples of noncompliance
  • Learn when and how to complete a Currency Transaction Report (CTR) and Suspicious Activity Report (SAR)
  • Understand how to comply with annual independent testing and training requirements
  • Learn the recordkeeping process
  • Identify appropriate due diligence and internal control procedures

INSTRUCTORS
Kim Bohannon, CUCE
As the North Carolina Credit Union League's (NCCUL) vice president of compliance and risk management, Kim analyzes laws and regulations pertaining to the credit union industry, and provides information and technical guidance to credit unions on how to properly implement those laws. She is also responsible for providing comment letters to federal agencies on proposed regulatory changes.

Kim began her credit union career with Navy Federal Credit Union. In 1996, she moved to First Carolina Corporate Credit Union, before moving to NCCUL in 1997. She holds the Credit Union Compliance Expert (CUCE) designation and is also a member of the International Association of Financial Crimes Investigators.
