R. Todd Sherpy
Todd is a founding partner in the South Carolina law firm of Sherpy & Jones, P.A, of Lexington, South Carolina. The firm is dedicated to serving all legal needs of Credit Unions, and has attained a national reputation for their legal-auditing, compliance and bankruptcy/collections work. The firm provides compliance auditing, training and consulting services to Credit Unions throughout the United States.
Todd dedicates a large portion of his time to teaching Credit Unions, having made presentations in 43 States and participating as an instructor through CUNA & Affiliates Regulatory Compliance, Collections and Credit Counseling, Marketing, Consumer Loan Officer and Economics and Investments Schools and Conferences. Todd is the author of CUNA's RegTrac Compliance Modules on Consumer, Real Estate Lending, and Member Business Lending; CUNA's White Paper on Privacy; CUNA's Guide to Compliance with Revised Article Nine; CSG's Volunteers Achievement Program on Directors' Liability, and many other Credit Union resources. Todd serves on the Credit Union Sub-committee of the American Bar Association, and the Operations and Supervisory Committee's of the Credit Union Committee. Todd is General Counsel to the South Carolina and consults with several other Credit Union Leagues on a regular basis. Todd brings a unique perspective to his practice having grown up in a Credit Union family; with a wife who is the executive officer at a large Georgia Credit Union.
Christy Curtis Jones
Christy is an attorney with Sherpy & Jones, P.A., a firm which specializes in servicing credit union's needs.
Christy was an associate articles editor for the South Carolina Law Review and a member of the Order of the Wig & Robe. Christy currently concentrates her practice in the areas of creditor/debtor rights, bankruptcy, collections, and foreclosure. She is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association, South Carolina Bankruptcy Law Association, and is admitted to practice before the South Carolina Federal Court, District of South Carolina. She serves as the 11th Judicial Circuit's Representative to the South Carolina Bar's Young Lawyers Division. Ms. Jones is a regular speaker at the South Carolina Credit Union League and has served as an adjunct professor at the University of South Carolina School of Law, teaching legal writing to first year students.
Jeff McGuire, CCUE
Jeff is vice president of Ronald R. Hyde & Company, a financial management company that provides management consulting and training. Take several parts humor, motivation and education, mix in some patriotic zeal, and you have just participated in a credit union seminar given by Jeff McGuire. Whether the topic is geared toward credit union staff, management or volunteers, Jeff has the ability to present the information in a manner that is both educational and entertaining. Jeff speaks on topics such as lending, asset/liability management, robbery, supervisory management skills, and more. Previously, Jeff was a consultant with the Texas Credit Union League for 15 years where he developed many of the supervisory committee and director training programs.
Stephen R. Fowler
Steve Fowler is the president and CEO of the South Carolina Credit Union League and Affiliates. Steve joined the League in 1971 as a credit union auditor and served in that capacity until named Member Services Representative in November 1972.
Steve has held the positions of manager of credit union marketing services, Inc., senior vice president of corporate and correspondent services, and executive vice president of advocacy and association services.
Steve has served as a member of the advisory board for the Richmond District of the US Federal Reserve, as a member of the Governor’s Anti-Predatory Lending Task Force, and as a member of the SC Consumer Protection Agency’s Advisory Council. He is currently a member of three Credit Union National Association committees; is a trustee of the Southeastern Regional Credit Union Schools; and is a board member of the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation.
Mary Wilson
Mary is an experienced presenter and trainer with Three Rivers Center for Behavioral Health in Columbia, S.C. She was formerly with Richland Springs Recovery Center (RSRC), the Consumer Credit Counseling Service, and assistant count home economist for Chesterfield County. Mary has been been a presenter at various credit union conferences and workshops.
Todd Harms
Todd is the director of youth and mission at the First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach, SC. He has served in this capacity for more than two years. Most recently, Todd was vice president of sales development and HR/training at Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union where he was charged with creating a culture focused on effective sales and service techniques. As an HR Generalist, he was responsible for all facets of the HR and training functions. Since resigning his position at the credit union, Todd has served in a volunteer capacity on the Supervisory Committee. His tenure at the credit union began in January 1998.
Steve Wichmann
Steve Wichmann is executive vice president of Loan Administration for Heritage Trust Federal Credit Union, Charleston, S.C. He provides guidance and training for all consumer and mortgage lenders at the credit union. Steve has written policy and procedure manuals, co-authored business plans, and established numerous training classes. He has also served as the president of the South Carolina Credit Union Management Association (SCCUMA) for two terms and is currently on the board of directors for the SC Low Country Housing Trust and for VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Preparation) for families of modest means). He practices the credit union philosophy by sharing his extensive knowledge with others. Steve holds an Associates of Science Degree in Banking and Finance, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management, and has completed some graduate courses in International Business. Steve is also a graduate of the SRCUS Credit Union Management School. He has served as President of the SC Mortgage Lenders Network, and is a former Senior Military Instructor, and served as a Command Sergeant Major in the U.S. Army Reserves. Steve is also sa committee member for the ESGR (Employer Support of the Guard and Reserves) where he speaks at the deployment and return of soldiers from overseas hazardous duty tours.
Scott Conley
Scott is the CEO of May Plant Credit Union and a graduate of the University of South Carolina. His credit union career started in the South Carolina Credit Union League in 1984 as an auditor with CUMS Audit Division. He progressed to the position of comptroller, then vice president for The Carolina Corporate Credit Union. From 1995-2005 he served as the CFO, senior vice president of finance for the S. C. Credit Union League and Affiliates. In addition, Scott has served as interim CEO of several credit unions and been extensively involved in the development of financial management policies and procedures.
